This deal was finalized on a Sunday and is reported to be valued at $862,500. It also includes a club option for 2027, which stands at $4 million, although there is a buyout clause of $7,500 attached.
Cavalli had originally asked for a salary of $900,000, while the Nationals proposed a lower figure of $825,000. Taking into account the modest buyout for 2027, Cavalli's total guaranteed earnings amount to $870,000.
At 27 years of age, Cavalli made a notable comeback last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March 2023. In his return, he achieved a record of 3 wins and 1 loss, accompanied by a 4.25 earned run average (ERA) over the course of 10 starts.
